Van

Van is the sweet cherry most people around here think of when you mention cherries. There are other varieties, of course – but try telling that to a Van enthusiast. :D
And to be fair, there is a reason for its popularity. Van is wonderfully sweet, crisp and full of flavour. It was introduced to Norway around 1948 and is a Canadian variety originating from the American Bing cherry. A true firm-fleshed cherry – although it seems to crack if someone merely mentions the word rain. Still, leave Van out of the orchard and, as a cherry grower, you are bound to hear about it.
