Sweet Gabriel

Sweet Gabriel is an Italian-bred variety that doesn't necessarily need to shout the loudest to make itself noticed.

Because this is quite simply a proper sweet cherry.

The trees are highly productive and deliver good, reliable crops of large and exceptionally attractive cherries. The flavour has a lovely balance between sweetness and fresh acidity – neither dominates completely, resulting in a harmonious, classic sweet cherry flavour combined with a pleasantly crisp texture.

Sweet Gabriel also has an important job during our long cherry season.

As the very earliest varieties begin to finish, but the mid-season heavyweights are not quite ready, we need something to bridge the gap.

That is where Sweet Gabriel comes in.

To do its job properly, however, it needs the right neighbours. Sweet Gabriel depends on compatible pollen to produce good crops, with suitable partners potentially including other varieties from the Sweet series or compatible Czech varieties growing nearby.

When pollination works and the rest of the conditions cooperate, Sweet Gabriel is a remarkably reliable variety, producing good crops year after year.

It may not have the most extreme sweetness, the most outrageous yields or the wildest story in the orchard.

It doesn't need to.
