Strawberries
Favori
Perhaps the name should have been a few letters longer – at least from a grower's point of view. Because Favori has certainly earned its name on our farm.
Favori is a Dutch-bred everbearing strawberry variety with a level of production that can seem almost unreal. Under the right conditions, the plants keep producing crop after crop for close to five months. Long after many other strawberry varieties have finished for the year, Favori simply keeps going – and going – and going.
Of course, enormous yields would not be particularly exciting if the strawberries weren't any good.
Fortunately, they are.
In our opinion, Favori is one of the best-tasting everbearing varieties, with an excellent balance between sweetness and fresh acidity. The berries are large, attractive and look fantastic in the punnet, while also offering good shelf life and handling qualities.
Customer feedback is consistently excellent too, and when a variety combines flavour, appearance, shelf life and almost absurd levels of production throughout such a long season, it becomes very difficult to let it go.
Favori is often among the very first fruit we harvest when the season begins in early May.
And when almost everything else has been brought in at the far end of autumn?
Favori is often still going out October month.
