Tamara

The undisputed queen of sweet cherries. None above her, none beside her. And yes, it may finally be time for the Van crowd to stop complaining and accept that there is a new boss in town. :D

Tamara produces the largest cherries we grow, averaging more than 30 mm in size. The flavour is so intensely sweet that it is almost difficult to find the right words for it – without question, this is the sweetest cherry variety in our orchards.

The cherries are large and heart-shaped, with a wonderfully crisp bite. Yields are impressive too, coming surprisingly close to the famously productive Lapins, yet without requiring thinning to achieve the quality we are looking for.

Tamara arrived on our farm in 2014 and has since become the most important sweet cherry variety we grow – in just about every way imaginable.

Developed in the Czech Republic, Tamara is a cross between the lesser-known "Krupnoplodnaja" and the legendary "Van".

So the "Van" crowd can at least take some comfort in knowing that the old boss is still in the family.
